So I've been working on creating the look for the Art Deco girl. I figured out the texture so when she moves her dress texture is stationary (like chowder) and it is really neat. I've also made some major progress on the art deco room. Although I like the way it looks, let me know your thoughts. I found some really great Art Deco books in the library with awesome prints so the dress texture will change. (fyi)
Also, My rigs are mostly complete, except for the facial set up. So when that gets done I will post some movement.

art deco character UV
For those of you who are fortunate enough to not know what UVing is... let me elaborate. It is the tedious and painful process of making sure a texture doesn't stretch on a character. You do this by laying them out like so:
You know you've played the game right when you apply a texture map of a checkered bored, and all of the squares are uniform and...well...square. That way, you know there will be no stretching when you apply the real textures!
and this is just the edge loops.

UPDATE!
So here are a few stills from the previs I am working on. Just to show you some work seeing as how the playblast is being a bit stubborn. I am about to start working on textures for Art Deco girl!! I plan to get the textures for the frames, hallway wall, Forest, gears, and some other random stuff done this weekend. ALSO, MUST WORK ON WATER COLOR GIRL ASAP! She is feeling neglected, sorry baby sister :(

Animatic!
SOOOO time for some updates! I am moving along rather smoothly in terms of my production schedule. Character UV's put me a little behind but I think all will be fine. So here is my progress so far. This is the original animatic for the film. The timing is a little weird but I think you will get the gist. The Previs for the hallway is soon to come. It is just a test for the plane and camera movement in the middle of the film. There will be a lot of cool things happening with the interaction between the plane and the paintings which I am really looking forward to mastering.
ANIMATIC
Here is a random shot of the modeled frames. Just thought I would throw that in there.

Hallway!!
These are a few references as to what the final hallway will look like. NO floor, NO ceilings...just paintings. everywhere! I am debating on whether or not I should create the lighting and texture to mimic a real hallway of paintings and have a texture over the projected paintings that I create to give them a glare from the light.... any thoughts? So what I would do is animate Art Deco for example, render her, project her into her painting and render that.

Notice the canvas texture and how light effects the canvas.

story boards
I am having some difficulties uploading my animatic, so for now we shall have to settle for the next best thing. STORYBOARDS! They are a brief over view of what will be going on in the film. I tried to include some references for the look of each painting so you have an idea of what is going on there. I will have the animatic up as soon as I figure it out.

Character Design
So my two main characters are Art Deco girl and Watercolor girl. Art Deco girl is the older sister in the story, and Watercolor girl is the younger. Here are my designs and models for each character. My models were completed by the wonderful Nate Usiak and are in the process of getting Uvs. As of right now Jenna is working on Art Deco girl's basic rig as I finish up the Uvs. I will then give here the final model so she can bind the skin to the rig and do facial blend shapes
.
